Dosz Cafe was developed from a raw concrete shell into a fully functioning hospitality space, designed to support both efficient service and a comfortable customer experience. The project focused on establishing clear spatial flow, integrating essential infrastructure, and introducing warmth through material contrast.
The Challenge
The project began as a completely bare shell — a raw concrete interior enclosed by full-height glazing, with no existing services or spatial definition.
- Absence of electrical and mechanical infrastructure
- Lack of spatial zoning within an open-plan layout
- No defined circulation or customer flow
- A cold, unfinished material palette that lacked warmth
- The need to integrate both front-of-house and back-of-house functions within a single volume

Design Response
Spatial Planning
The layout was developed from the ground up to establish clear circulation routes and functional zones. The positioning of seating, service counters, and display areas was carefully considered to support intuitive movement and efficient operation.
Customer Flow
A clear journey was created from entry to service to seating, ensuring ease of movement while maintaining a comfortable and uncluttered environment.
Material Strategy
Warm timber finishes were introduced to contrast with the raw concrete shell, softening the space and creating a more inviting atmosphere. Green tile detailing adds depth and visual interest while reinforcing a natural, grounded aesthetic.
Lighting Integration
Lighting was designed to support both functionality and ambience, highlighting key areas such as the counter and seating while maintaining an overall sense of warmth.
Key Features
- Timber joinery to introduce warmth and contrast
- Green tiled surfaces to add texture and identity
- Defined seating areas to support different user needs
- Integrated counter and display zone for efficient service
- Open yet structured layout to balance flexibility and clarity
The Outcome
The result is a cohesive and functional café environment that supports both operational efficiency and customer comfort. The space transitions from a raw shell into a welcoming setting that encourages both short visits and longer stays.
